Today I touched my toes.
That likely seems stupid to you, but to me it represents results from an oddly focused effort in specific areas.
I'm a 48 year old sedentary ex IT manager who has been this way for YEARS. I've been as heavy as 238 in the past 6-12 months. I've never really been a sports guy and have always enjoyed a good discussion over a sport anyday, so that's what I tend to focus on. As a result of this I haven't been able to touch my toes in ... Lets just say a safe 15-20 years. Yeah. 15-20 years. I lost weight but aside from some running (when I could still never touch my toes, and was a goal of mine) it was something that eluded me since my early 20s when I started sitting a heck of a lot more at computers, and exercising a lot less.
One of my committments to myself was to "get in better shape". To that end I've been trying a variety of things:
- Drinking Soylent or Coffiest for breakfast every day, and most times for lunch. Eat whatever I want for dinner. Sometimes this can be very bad, but it doesn't really feel like a "diet" this way.
- Try out this program that Tim Ferris recommended called Gymnasticbodies.
- Committing to a strict "morning routine" Which includes breakfast, medicine, shower, my exercises and meditation as well as a committment to be "at work" at 9am every day.
- I strive to only eat things made from INGREDIENTS such as milk, flour, eggs, cheese, bread, quality meats, etc... The basics. I tend to eat very plain fare. Except Soylent... I drink the heck out of that stuff.
And today it paid off thanks to the motivation of my friends in #eveonline (A game you really should play) #tweetfleet & most importantly to #fitfleet for providing pictures and encouragement when I really didn't want to do the next day's workouts, and did it anyways thanks to you.
Thank you for your time,
